This review is from: Doctor Who - The Complete Series 3 Box Set [DVD] (DVD)
Series three certainly had its moments, but I have to say they were pretty much confined to The Shakespeare Code, Blink and Utopia. This used to be a brilliant, engaging, well-written show, but scripts that have gone from fantasy to pure ridiculous, massive plot holes and Freema Agyeman's acting, in the early part of the series especially, ruined series three for me. If it weren't for John Simm, they would never have been able to pull the finale off.

Couldn't agree more, once Billie Piper left the Tardis the show completely lost its attraction. Writing got poorer, effects got cheesier, acting went downhill. Series four went off with a good start and it was nice to see Billie Piper back for a few episodes but I certainly won't be tuning in for series 5.

Mr. J. A. Hetherington says:
Wait, what about the human nature arc? true the story for lazurus was a rid ridiculous, but the ending in the church was fantastic, and certainly not more ridiculous than the shakespeare code! sorry i just have to disagree, the best season of the new series hands down as it was actually very clever in parts(as you mentioned blink) and to say ridiculous overall? I am a fan of the old series, and I will be the first to admit how ridiculous it can be, not just the effects. people want new quality but complain because it isnt the same as the old series, I think this season especially was a great comprimise
