This review is from: The Bloke's Guide To Pregnancy (Paperback)
I bought this for my other half and he was delighted.
As he began to read it, I picked it up and had a good read ahead.
Now I'm quite a physically fit, active person, in a relationship where my partner is equally over joyed about the pregnancy, and positively refuses to miss out on a bit of the process. So, reading the patronising paragraph about weight gain - I'm not quoting but the message was that 'she will put weight on everywhere but her neck' I found presumptious, patronising and rude. It doesn't have to be that way, but he doesn't mention that.
The other part that stands out as completely unfair was the section on antenatal classes - saying you will be dragged along to these classes. This man has written a book about his experience, but has not managed to put it across this way - it comes across as though thats it - thats the way it happens, put up and shut up, she's going to be a big fat nag. The git!
I hated it, it made me mad, and upset, and my partner isn't reading it anymore.
