Excellent primer in MVC methodology,
This review is from: Professional CodeIgniter (Wrox Professional Guides) (Paperback)I wish I had read this book before I started building my personal website. MVC is a wonderful methodology, and will keep your code nice and neat for the next person who needs to look at it (who will probably be you), and CodeIgniter is a lovely framework within which to think about stuff in an MVC way.
MVC is also very much geared towards Agile development. Not only is Agile good for changing specs, it's fast and efficient too: I've been an Agile developer professionally for over a year now, and I love it!
Some of the SQL given is faulty: in particular, I've come across a few quote marks that should not be there. However, given that this book is not a beginners' book, and doesn't pretend to be, this is forgivable, and not quite enough to take a star off its rating.
Perhaps some words on test-driven development and/or PHPUnit would have been great: that would have gone hand in hand with MVC development, but that may have made this book unmanageable as an introduction to MVC.
Overall, an excellent book, and nicely written. I recommend it.
