Brian Tyler's breakthrough score,

This review is from: Children Of Dune (Audio CD)
With Children of Dune comes Brian Tyler's breakthrough moment in Hollywood scoring. It is easy to understand why. Luscious themes and sweeping orchestrations make this a delight to listen to from start to finish. A combination of the western orchestra with a number of specialist eastern instruments (played by Tyler himself) and haunting vocals, you really do feel like you are in distant lands. He also wrote and composed a song (Track 8), using the fictitious language from the associated books not unlike Howard Shore's use of the elvish language in Lord of the Rings, which shows Tyler's extreme dedication to the project. Also, Brian Tyler's albums generally have a long running time, with with COD clocking in at a lengthy 77 minutes meaning you really do get your money's worth.
Considering this was Tyler's first mainstream score, it was an extraordinary achievement. If I could, I would give it 6*s.
