This review is from: Bloody Homecoming [DVD] (DVD)
'Bloody Homecoming' may have a budgetary equivalent of your average 'Come Dine with Me' episode, but it's been made with an eye for the early 80s winking away in the background.
A would-be date-rapist is accidentally burned alive and, a few years later, the group of high schoolers who bore witness to the accident find themselves stalked and slain by a nutter dressed as a fireman, who wields a sharpened 'spirit stick' (a cheerleading prop, rather alien to non-US audiences).
On the night of their homecoming dance, teens are chased, slashed, impaled, squashed behind bleechers, and asphyxiated, until the nominal heroine goes head to head with the killer, who, for a change, wasn't THAT easy to guess.
Acting and continuity may be challenged here and there, but if you're a lover of films like Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine, and The Initiation, this one could hold a few nostalgic pleasantries for you. And it's about a gazillion times better than that dismal 2008 Prom Night remake.
