The Toy taker
In a respectable yuppie suburb a child is enticed away from home from out of his bedroom by someone who opens then closes the house locks....
Cut to Sean Corrigan - a specialist serious personal crime officer (himself from the wrong side of the tracks who has seen many of the monsters he has caught escape the appropriate sentences by consideration of their backgrounds and upbringing) is being pulled from South London into the specialists crime squad at Scotland Yard to handle by a bullying assistant commissioner, demanding results immediately and the CYA politics of the Met – sounds familiar?
Cut to an ongoing assessment of the parents and neighbours gossip – what lies behind their quarrelling?
Cut to an obvious suspect brought in immediately for questioning - locksmith, burglar, child sex offender - who is playing games with the police.
More children are abducted
No more spoilers....
A debut novel written by an ex copper.
Were the characters and situations credible - definitely
Di it grip me so it was difficult to put down - Yes
Was the story memorable enough when picking up the books again – Yes
Will I like it? That depends as to how you like your crime settings – child abduction is very emotive and sadly is seen too often in modern life
