This review is from: Project: Destiny (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
This story fits in at the end of a trilogy of stories connecting the Forge and Nimrod - Project: Twilight and Project: Lazarus. The first story featured the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn, the second story featured the Sixth Doctor and then moved to action featuring the Seventh Doctor. In this story, the story picks up directly from The Angel of Scutari, and the Seventh Doctor, Ace and Hex are in London to get Hex fixed up after he has been shot with a musket (see previous story). But London is not as any of them remember it; and the Doctor's about to meet someone he would rather he didn't - again.
This is a good story; it features on several levels - there's the story of the contaminants and the situation in London; as well as the story overarcing these three stories, of the work of Nimrod and the Forge; and the story of Hex's background, which the listener already knows and the Doctor knows and Nimrod would like to let Hex know about. So there's a lot going on - actionwise, psychological-wise etc. The Doctor gets to play good guy and bad guy, Ace gets to run around shooting things, and Hex gets to do the deep thinking thing. It's all good.
The characters are well drawn out in this story, and I absolutely love the evil Nimrod as played by Stephen Chance; his voice is chilling and the character suitably nasty - even in an audio story you can imagine what he looks like. There's definitely enough to keep anyone interested in this story, and when you pin it on the end of Project: Twilight and Project: Lazarus the trilogy is very satisfying indeed.
The end of this story is an ending indeed, but also does open up a lovely opportunity for more from the Forge - I like that, and look forward to more.

Thanks timelord007 - the whole Forge trilogy is definitely one I'll be listening to again, if only I could ever get to the end of the ones I haven't listened to for the first time yet!
