Does the job, but....,
This review is from: XCSOURCE For XBOX 360 Optical RCA Audio Adapters Cable HDMI Cable GA82 (Video Game)
This item works well, but be aware that whenever you change the source on you TV it will restart your xbox! So if you haven't saved your game and you switch to watch something on TV, when you switch back to your xbox it will restart, losing your game. I have a Samsung TV, not sure if it's just specific to Samsung TVs.
Slightly annoying, but it does the job, you just need to be careful when you switch sources.

I wish I read your comment before buying it, I have an LG monitor and it also restarts the Xbox when switching the source over to PC. Very annoying.

Why would it do that? The RCA adaptor doesn't connect to your TV, so there's no communication there between TV and Xbox. As for HDMI cable, well, I change source when my Xbox is hooked up with HDMI all the time, and it never restarts. I suspect the fault lies with your TV...maybe when you switch source, the TV is somehow programmed to stop all communication through the HDMI port, and since the Xbox doesn't get a signal from the TV, it turns off? That's just a theory, mind you, just...I can't see how this product can cause your Xbox to restart. It must be the TV.

I'm fairly sure it's a a feature of the xbox. It seems it's not just Samsung TV's which this happens with (although i know many TV do share components). The component cable that comes with the xbox delibrately blocks the HDMI port so you can't have both connected at the same time, hence the need for this adapter. When you switch from the HDMI source to another the xbox must think it needs to switch to the component cable, causing the restart. Would be nice if microsoft could update the Xbox OS for it lol.

Yes - this 'feature' came with one of the updates to Xbox live as far as I understand.

-I'm 99% sure its not an official product, but it does work. I've got one of these and it works - I use the HDMI cable for 1080p video and the other adaptor, I connect that to the Xbox, connect an optical cable between the adaptor and my sound system.

Yeah man it's everyone's Xbox.. Quite annoying, but when your not sing Turtlebeach just unplug it, then back in again when you want it, doesn't restart the Xbox when you insert it, just when switching TV source.

This is something to do with the TV, my Sharp is fine, can change channels and Xbox keeps running no problem. Mates Toshiba causes problems with his Xbox. Have the latest Dashboard updates so not that. Have an LG Blu-ray player/surround sound system also connected via HDMI (and Xbox connected to it using the optical out), and I have noticed that pauses for a moment as you switch souces, but then resumes fine.
Do have to say I did pay for the overpriced offical Microsoft one with the HDMI cable and dongle for the optical, but can't believe that makes a difference

Can anyone help me? I'm purchasing the new XBOX 360 slim for my birthday next month and I'm trying to figure out how to get my Turtle Beach X11's with is as I know the console does not come with the red blue and green cables for HD. I don't often switch between channels when playing games, if I'm on the XBOX that's it. I'l save my game or finish an online match before turning it off and then switch to TV channels. Buying this may seem like the only option I have at the moment for my X11's. So what I'm asking is, is there any other way? Or if this is my only option is it worth it (considering I don't change channel)?

Apparently one of these adapters will work for you.
