This review is from: AA Car Essentials Solar-Powered Car Battery Charger (Automotive)
I ordered the charger as we don't use our car for long enough to keep the battery's juice.
It's very well-made, has 2 detachable terminations, one directly to the battery via clips and the other goes to your car's EOBD's port (if you have one).
I was quite sceptical about its ability to get any decent charge from the poor excuse for a sun that shines here but to my surprise it seems to operate at the faintest sign of light. Needless to say this only "trickles" charge to the battery not force-charge it from flat.
My only take on this is that the plug to the EOBD is large enough to make it impossible to drive with the plug in place, so I have to keep connecting/disconnecting it every time we park the car. A 90-degree plug could've helped a lot.

Some other makes have a cigar lighter plug, but you must have a car that does not switch this off when your ignition is switched off.

WN's point is relevant where the OBDII port is under the dash but near the pedals. This can be tricky to plug in and out for every journey. If it was more compact, you could leave it in place and unplug the lead at the connection nearer the solar panel itself.
