Fabulous book of regional Italian desserts,
This review is from: Southern Italian Desserts: Rediscovering the Sweet Traditions of Calabria, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, and Sicily (Hardcover)
In the relatively short time I've owned this it's become one of my favourite cookbooks - it's astonishingly rich and I love the way the recipes are so specifically regional. You'll find recipes for biscuits here that are found only in one village, for instance, and they are gems, absolute gems. There are also recipes in this book for cakes, biscotti and other desserts that are found throughout the region, of course, and it is interesting to see the ingredients that are used in each - lots of pistachio desserts in the regions where pistachios grow best, for instance, as you'd expect.
This is the kind of book where you'll be impelled to work your way through every single recipe page by page - in fact, the only downside to it is the fact that purchasing this book will add kilos to your body mass, unless you're careful!
A sumptuous treat, five stars all the way. Don't miss it.
