Dark Entries contains 6 horror stories featuring love, death and the supernatural by Robert Aickman. The book was orignally published in 1964.
Contents; "The School Friend", "Ringing the Changes", "Choice of Weapons", "The Waiting Room", "The View" and
"Bind Your Hair".
Aickman has received major credit for his work from some of the best writers in the horror genre and it's a fitting tribute, to celebrate his centenary year, that Faber and Faber chose to re-release some of his huge volume of work.
The stories themselves are eerie. They have a quiet way of sneaking up on you. Aickman writes about the living, the dead and the supernatural as if they belong together. It's his ability to bring night into day that causes the greatest sense of unease.
Don't expect deranged serial killers or flesh eating zombies. You'll be so disappointed. This is classic horror, traditional horror. Time has moved on but these stories have not. They're rooted in the past and remain true to themselves however; their influence continues to spread to readers and writers alike.
