This review is from: Echoes Of Betrayal: Paladin's Legacy: Book Three: 3/3 (Paperback)
I've waited for this book for months, but I found it very disappointing. The story lines stagger on unconvincingly, little is resolved - just a filler in the series. Compared with the third book in the Paks series (Oath of Gold), this third book in the follow-on series is poor. Detailed comments follow, but you have to know what went before.
King Kieri get married, has lots of problems (especially at the end of the book!) and will have to solve them next book. He still has little support from the elves, but has identified some enemies. At last.
Duke Dorrin has lots of problems, gets a new heir, but achieves little - not much magery. She has definitely lost ground compared to her situation at the end of the last book. (Yeah, Duke. She. Get over it).
Count Arcolin doesn't do much, but at least Sgt. Stammell has some purpose in life. His situation is left hanging.
Lot of time spent on Arvid (thief) but little achieved, apart from him turning weepily religious....
A few people are killed off.
At this rate, several books will be needed to settle Lyonya and other sub-plots. Necklace, anyone?
