1)If you take the first letters of the main characters' names - Dom, Robert, Eames, Arthur, Mal and Saito - they spell "Dreams". If you add Peter, Ariadne and Yusuf, the whole makes "Dreams Pay", which is what they do for a mind thief.
2)When Cobb gave Ariadne the puzzle test, Ariadne's final solution was a diagram of King Minos' Labyrinth. Ariadne is the name of King Minos' daughter in the same mythology.
3)Joseph Gordon-Levitt performed all but one of his own stunts during the fight scene in the spinning hallway.
4)The role of Arthur was originally meant for Heath Ledger before his untimely death.
5)Despite prominent billing, Michael Caine only gets three minutes of screentime.
6)Christopher Nolan has said that the snow-based third-level dream was inspired by his favourite James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).
What's The Story.
Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.
Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive that has cost him everything he has ever loved.
Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception, but instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.
Christopher Nolan rebooted & reloaded Batman into a phenomenal trilogy of movies, Inception sees Nolan up the ante that crosses James Bond & The Matrix with excellent results that are simply mind blowing as not only does Nolan deliver a full on action packed adventure he also delivers a unique & original story that ties all the characters together somehow & includes many puzzles to solve throughout the movie that may require up to more than one viewing.
Nolans sharp cutting & up tempo pace means that there is always something happening on screen whether it's action or an intriguing plot point, if not then the wonderful visuals are interesting enough to keep you entertained.
The final hour of the film, is possibly one of the most complicated action sequences put together on film which demands the viewers complete attention to understand all of the layers of what is happening while the ambiguous final twist will have many moviegoers debating the movies final shot.
All of the actors are fantastic too, Leonardo Di Caprio is brilliant as Dom Cobb who adds emotional weight & gravitas as he portrays Cobb as a flawed, grim, fragile man, who has knowledge about everything else but yet can't seem to come in grips with himself & his past demons.
Ellen Page gives a equally great performance throughout as Cobbs guide Ariadne while actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives a clever understated performance as Arthur & features in one of the movies big stand out action sequences & finally Tom Hardy is awesomely good, charming & completely bad ass as Eames who completely steals the show from under Di Caprio.
In a world full of remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels this is like a breath of fresh air as Inception delivers a unique & original film & a chance for audiences to see something different as Nolan who has also written this movie directs superbly choreographed action & fight sequences which you can actually see what's going on instead of the constant fast schizophrenic MTV cutting of most of the movies directed today yet doesn't comprise on the movies storytelling & keeps the movie flowing despite the 148 minutes running time.
This is a masterpiece in moviemaking & a highly entertaining & creative movie that I would highly recommend to Sci-fi & action fan's who want to see something a little different from the usual standard action movie fare.

Might surprise you but I didn't really take to this one, I know most enjoyed
it, can't put my finger on it, I do own it, probably won't ever watch it again.
Reading your review, it did have all the right ingredients.
Superb reviewing, great research, enthusiastic plot and thought sections.
(watched 'Raid 2' tonight)

Paul Tapner says:
Interesting trivia: When i first saw this, and it got to the reunion scene at the end, I thought 'his kids don't look any older! They should be years older! It cant be real can it?'
Yet apparently the kids in the final scene were played by different actors to the earlier scene, and they were older. They just didn't look it at a glance because they were wearing identical clothes to the earlier ones. Which was presumably intentional. And rather neat

I love science fiction films and the trouble is there are so few genuinely good ones. This is one and so is this review. Rbmusicman, I hope you'll give it another go.
