Effective but idiosyncratic,
This review is from: Dove Maximum Protection Go Fresh Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena Scent Antiperspirant Deodorant Cream - 45 ml (Personal Care)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is an anti-perspirant that takes the job seriously. Which means that, essentially, you get a stick of sticky material (not unlike a glue stick) to smear over the offending area, whereupon the pores become clogged and you sweat no more.
The twist-base of the dispenser with each click propels a measured number of millimetres of the stick through the grill, thereby ensuring that you coat yourself with the correct amount - at least, that is the theory. I found that this occurred at holes on one side of the grille but not the other, and this lopsidedness left it unclear whether another click was required to provide sufficient per use.
If you remember the old TV ad (for a quite different product, that "won't let you down") where a girl has a stencil of antiperspirant sprayed on, then goes off to do something extremely strenuous, until her back is running with sweat, except for the stencilled tick... well, this really does work like that. The question is - do you really want it to? Shutting down the sweat production so completely in one region means that you will perspire more somewhere else, and I fear that forcing sticky goo into pores on a regular basis is likely to be unhealthy, and exacerbate any underlying problem.
Also the smell is, er, distinctive. "Pomegranate and verbena" turns out to be a rather cloying, sweet, musky aroma, with sharp lemony notes over the top. Whether or not you like this is going to be very much a matter of personal taste, so I strongly suggest you smell before you purchase.
In short, this is a very effective product, albeit in expensive and somewhat gimmicky packaging - but it is not something that I would consider using every day.
