Well, he is doing just what he says he is doing,

Kill Bill, being my favorite Tarantino movie still remains as number one, if you ask me. On the other hand, I can see what he is trying to do:
1) imitate the past with a twist
2) exceptional camera work
3) put actors in positions where they have a hard time, thus reveal their extend of capability. This is the first time I liked Leonardo's performance.
4) so so screenplay.
I think the main problem with his movies is that there is no second guy on the set. I mean who can duel with him? He knows it all. Yet, there are those better with screenplays, lighting and photography. I hope he doesn't quit before coming up with a collaboration. That would be a shame.
Other than these, I found it enjoyable. I'm not an American, so I can find "a black guy killing all the white people" amusing. I too laughed really hard when Django shot the sister of Calvin Candie in the end. On the other hand, one thinks, were there not any good white men at that time? It could add something to the movie. Perhaps, they wouldn't have survived in such plantations.
