A great game, but could be a lot better.,
This review is from: Need For Speed: Undercover (PS3) (Video Game)
I used to love the NFS franchise when they released NFS underground and underground 2 (the best in my opinion). Unfortunately, since then, the NFS franchise has died. Wheres all the high speed excitement gone?
Now NFS has hit the PS3 but not with the best of starts, with the poor reception from NFS Pro street.
However, NFS undercover has improved on a few areas, but it still lacks the excitment and now has a very dodgy frame rate, along with a few issues with graphics. Occasionally buildings will appear out of nowhere or windows will not show on buildings or cars. A bit strange, seeing as this hasnt been a problem in the previous games.
On the other hand, the game still maintains a few NFS elements such as the cop chases and circuit races.
Unfortunately the cops are pretty rubbish on the game, although they can make driving quite difficult when they are hitting you from both sides.
I dont know where the stingers (spikestrips) are on this game. I originally thought that this was one of the best parts of the NFS series, that made it unique. They even had them of NFS 3 for the PC and PS1, so it cant be that difficult to put them in the game.
Overall, this is not the best of games. It can be great fun at times, but it can get very repetitive quite quickly and the frame rate will start to get really annoying.
I would definitely recommend Race Driver:Grid as an alternative. I paid around £30 for it, but its now available for under £10. Its a lot more exciting.
