Good for beginning social scientists,
This review is from: Doing Research in the Real World (Paperback)This book is very suitable for beginning social scientists although the book slightly leaned towards research in management. Laying a good foundation in fundamental research concepts is crucial at the beginning of research journey, especially for new researchers and this book plays this role very well.
I bought this book because it is very hot in my library (University of Warwick, UK) -- a 3-day loan book. I also use it for research training sessions with six-formers, which I find it very useful and practical, just like the title claims: doing research in the REAL world.
The only drawback is that it is quite heavy physically, especially when I have to carry several books along with me. But I think that's the common dilemma of a guidebook--trying to balance between the amount of content and the weight (physical and mental), and of course, the price.
