This review is from: Beechcombings: The narratives of trees (Paperback)
What a great book the beauty of the wildwood versus the influence made by man on our landscape the beautful trees created by coppicing and pollarding, the management of our wild places in history, the sadness of the landsape and habitat that is being destroyed discussed in great detail, Richard Maybe also writes in the BBC wildlife magazine I always read his article with great interest, this book is well worth buying.

Hazel Danielle Benson says:
I can't help but wonder if you made a mistake in rating this book with 1 star as you seemed to enjoy it so?

Yes, I have to agree with Hazel. Jbooth, if you ever return to this page, why not amend your star rating, to accord with your review? A one star rating such as yours significantly alters the overall score this book gets, especially as yours is one of only three, and that might aversely affect sales of the book, which would be sad. This said, anyone actually reading your review should be able to get around the mistake you've made. But perhaps this is why your review has only scored 6/20, re. people finding it helpful, or not?

As has been said in all the previous comments, it appears that there has been a misunderstanding by J Booth as to how the star rating system works. He/she is clearly enthusiastic about the the book, which is at odds with the one star rating. This is a shame, as it brings down the average star rating, which may deter other readers from buying the book. Is there some way for Amazon to contact J Booth in order this error can be rectified?

I think Jbooth just clicked the wrong box. I have only read the "Look Inside" pages before ordering the book and found the tears coursing down as memories of that dreadful night came flooding back. The saddest bonfires we have ever had and the clearing went on for 3 months. I have had a love affair with our local woodlands (The Blean) ever since and can't imagine life without them. Just been to Namibia for a couple of weeks and sooo glad to get back to our green and pleasant land. Long may we cherish it.
