Exorcism movies always get around to stealing from "The Exorcist" somewhere along the way and this one is no exception. What it does not steal are the fear, suspense, great directing, great acting and great script. This movie is devoid of all of those things, which is quite an amazing achievement considering that it does have many of the ingredients that should add up to at least one of those. The main ingredient is a seed of truth in the story, but the seed was tampered with and failed to flower into anything beyond a pale imitation of reality. Unfortunately the director seems obsessed with having his characters spend 3/4 of the movie walking from one building to another, and leaving each other alone just when the script runs out of ideas at what to say next. Hopkins starts well but winds up as a caricature possessed priest. The supporting actor looks bored or vacant when he should look terrified. most likely the result of too many takes or not living in the moment of the supposed drama.Really poor effort by all concerned. 'The Exorcist' is the still the best movie of this type for me by a mile.
