Firstly, I came to this story with some anxiety having heard a little about the author, expecting it to be heavy, perhaps a little overcooked in places and too 'literary' for my taste.
My anxieties dissolved when I began reading this book. It was, in places, poetic and lyrical and the story was quite simple! Although the story didn't go very far there was something about the way it flowed that worked.
A familiar image I know but I would have to say it was like a good wine, something about it that you want to linger on and relish.
It's incredible to realise that, like Joseph Conrad, English is not Alksandar's first language. But what mastery!
Stunning. Which award will it win. THat's what I want to know.
