Premium Quality Tech,
This review is from: Sony Universal SmartWatch 2 SW2 with Bluetooth One Touch NFC for Smartphones with Android 4.0 - Black Silicone (Electronics)
I originally ordered this from Amazon, but the release date came and went with no sign of delivery, so I went direct to Sony. I paid a little extra for the product, but direct from the manufacturer I guess you expect to pay a bit more.
One of my concerns was the size of the watch, and whether it would look huge or feel bulky on my wrist. When I first picked it up and put it on my concerns were laid to rest! The watch has a premium feel and a good weight, although not heavy, and rather than looking huge it looks a good size, similar to other fashion watches from the likes of Diesel etc.
Linking to my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active by NFC was easy, and had a bluetooth connection ever since. The apps are good (although currently limited) and the watch works wonderfully. Having a little vibrate on your wrist to let you know what's going on is excellent. I'm excited to see what other apps come out as the watch grows and matures.
I bought the watch mainly for use during the working day, so I could see what my phone was doing without having to take my phone out of my pocket.
I've been hugely impressed so far, and discount the negative reviews below. Battery life seems decent, and it's definitely a good quality product that does exactly what it says on the tin. It doesn't claim to do all this extra fancy stuff, but as an extension of my phone it's perfect!

I would have liked to know that when you connected with NFC did you have the need of the Sony app, also was the S4 in a case or not

You do need a Sony App to connect I think - my phone didn't connect before that. Mine was certainly in a sony case.

Does Sony's email notifications app for the watch work with your Galaxy S4?

Yes. I bought an app called Mail notification pro for 81p. It manages fine with IMAP - very easy. I did have a problem initially - you must set the quiet time otherwise it just assumes all time is quiet!

OK, I realise there are third party apps for notifications (there were for the SmartWatch 1 too), but I meant the actual Sony app which allows you to read the full text of emails, doesn't need accessibility services on your phone and doesn't have to download everything again (like Mail Notification Pro). I'm guessing from the replies here that it's probably Sony phones only again, just like with the SmartWatch 1?

I know the app you mean. It does very. My Samsung Tablet supports that app extension. My Samsung phones don't! I haven't linked my watch to my Tablet so I don't know it works, but I have installed it.
