The definitive account of Spielberg and his films for some time to come,
This review is from: Spielberg: A Retrospective (Hardcover)
Written by Time critic Richard Schickel and with a foreword by the great man himself (the first time he's collaborated on a book about himself), this volume is going to be the definitive account of Spielberg and his films for some time to come I imagine. Unsurprisingly, it offers a fairly uncritical assessment of Speilberg's body of work but it is has been beautifully produced with some fantastic photos (plenty of which I've never seen before). My biggest criticism is that some of the films are given less space than they merit - The Color Purple being the most obvious example. Small niggles aside, this is a must for any fan of Spielberg.
