5.0 out of 5 stars A great Amazon buy !, 10 July 2012
This review is from: Nikon D3200 Digital SLR Camera Body Only - Black (24.2MP) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)
As a Nikon F and Nikon F6 user of many years, I endorse all the positive things that the other reviewers have said about the D3200.
By all means, pay the £2800 for the D800 or £1800 for the D700, but you won't get a more technically advanced processor and sensor than on the D3200. So unless you need to use the camera as a professional - huindreds of shots a day and heavy manual use in hard working situations - spend less on this camera! All electronic products are poor investments anyway! Some years ago I paid £1400 for a new Nikon F4 body. Six months alter, the same technical spec. came out in the F300 - 400 series, but in less 'durable' bodies for £300 ! Learn the lesson the easy way!
NOTE : THIS CAMERA CAN BE PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON De. FOR £460 ! Post & packing are £5, delivery is 3 - 4 days. That's where I got mine. The camera has the same Nikon Eu guarrantee as if it had been purchased in the UK.

I assume the manual was in German? Not a huge problem as I could download the pdf, but just checking. Thanks.

The printed manual is in German, but the disc version is in a choice of languages, including English. The English version can also be downloaded from the excellent Nikon USA website. All prospective buyers, check the 'Cheapest Camera Finder' website for most up to date UK prices - a great resource!

I do agree with the idea of paying less and getting a camera that is just as 'fit for purpose', I have a Nikon P510 for £400-00p that has a zoom that goes out to 1000mm equivalent, it takes perfect pictures and I sometimes wonder why I spend so much money on SLR's, but when I have been using the P510 for a while and I start to use my Nikon D7000 again I realise that much as I like the P510 the D7000 is a much more comfortable and enjoyable camera to use, the viewfinder is far superior, making it easier to follow moving subjects, the shutter fires with a solid, positive and satisfying clunk, and of course the D7000 gives you more options.
So thats what I think you get for the extra money, a Rolls Royce rather than a Skoda!! but yes it is a tricky choice, I dont think you can go far wrong with any modern digital camera, just depends whether you are taking pictures because you want to record a moment, or you actually enjoy taking photographs!

Thanks for all the comments about this product, i was going to get the 3100 its about £328 from a non Amazon site (sorry amazon) but have also considered the 3200 Amazon is the best price for it. With the extra features on the 3200 i am now considering it. Oh by the way i don't know if when the reviewer who said it was only £460 with £5 postage from Amazon.de the price on Amazon uk was alot more but its only £468 on Amazon Uk and as i have prime so free postage its £3 more not worth going to .de site.

Quite right on the D3200 prices! The £460 was considerably cheaper (by about £50+ I think) when I bought mine, but the Amazon UK site caught up with the cheaper de. site within a couple of weeks!. Both sites are about the same now, and they are as cheap as the more popular Hong Kong sites - Digital Rev and One Stop Digital.
