A must read book for all riders and instructors,
This review is from: Equitation Science (Paperback)This book is brilliant for riders and instructors. Yes, it's heavy going on technical terms but to be honest it's not a show stopper. In fact it's the careful use of technical terms and great descriptions of what each one means that allows the theory behind Equitation Science to be outlined so unambiguously, which is great for anyone wanting to improve their horsemanship. It outlines the way we should approach training our horses. It is applicable to each and every method out there. It's not just 'traditional' riders who need to read it. Those having problems with progressing in any method, natural/trad etc, will find the reasons they are having issues or why certain things work better than others. The book describes the unifying theory that encapsulates what excellent trainers seem to know instinctively and bring to whatever school of equitation they are part of and gives the key points that distinguish the good trainers from the bad.
The revolutionary aspect of this book is that you don't have to change your method of training per se, by incorporating an understanding of how horses learn the method you have chose to follow will be better for all concerned. Life changing!
