An Inspirational Delight,
This review is from: MALCOLM HILLIER'S COLOUR GARDEN (Hardcover)
A lovely book to refer to no matter what style of garden you are hoping to create or update, unless you don't want any plants at all! For this book not only provides some beautiful example 'palettes', such as within the Spring Palette, where titles like, Opposites Attract, Subtle Warmth, A Quiet Contrast, Cool Companions are supported with numerous photographs that portray what the author is expressing with these clever titles, but also it nudges the imagination sufficiently to inspire one to start looking at plants and their potential placement and groupings in a whole new way.
Other palette titles include, for the Summer: Evening Glow, Muted Hues, Tranquil Vistas, Regal Majesty, Exuberant Summer, Cottage Cacophony, Peaceful Pastels and many more.
There are palettes for all seasons and for a relatively 'short on pages' book it's overflowing with ideas and put together in such a way that even an unimaginative simpleton, such as myself, can create a fairly fabulous garden - well, it suits my tastes and pocket, in a very short space of time. Highly recommended, even if, like me, you simply enjoy looking at lovely floral pictures in the depths of winter.
