Standard Scottish cop caper,

This review is from: Ghost in the Machine (DC Scott Cullen Crime Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
The first in the Scott Cullen series is a fairly easy read as crime capers go. Your standard type police detectives, grumpy boss, irritable and tired old timer, frustrated new detective and lady accomplice, nothing startling there. It moves at a good pace but it's a bit predictable and reading it, it felt like I'd read it all before. I had the plot sorted out pretty much in the first third of the book and there are some glaring plot pieces and cliches tying it all together. However having said that, for a first book it has all the required elements and if you know Edinburgh at all (I lived there for two and a half years and worked out at Livingston) so it was interesting to visualise some of the author's changes to the landscape as well as follow the characters through the old and new city. Will I be getting the second? Jury is out but I might give it a chance.
