This review is from: I'm Ok, You're Ok (Paperback)
One of the mysteries in life is to understand why we and others act or react in particular ways in different (usually challenging) situations. Part of my life's journey brought this to a head when a few members of the church I belong to left following a disagreement - then followed the hate mail! All very unpleasant and stressful. However, prior to visiting a TA counsellor I read Thomas Harris's book I'm ok, you're ok. The book was a true revelation in understanding the personality and provided some solid answers to questions I had asked myself for many years. The bottom line is the book offers a practical approach to readdressing one's life, junking some outdated thought patterns and putting some healthy thinking and practices into place.
My relationship with myself, my wife and children and the people I work with has improved immensely. Dealing with very difficult people has become so much easier because you can head off an adverse reaction without taking everything to heart.
TA is a very sound psychological tool but Harris touches on the spiritual dimension as well. Self understanding is great and liberating but healing the wounded heart is God's province (see your local pastor for that one).
I really enjoyed Harris's book and have recommended it to many people. RIP Thomas, you did a great and I am very thankful that you wrote this excellent book!
