It's great, just don't follow the directions on the bag,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass Weight Gain Powder Chocolate 5.44g (Personal Care)
There is marketing written all over the directions. 2 'heaping' scoops? Yeah right...
Here is how I do it -
500ml of Whole Milk plus 1½ scoops of the weight gainer.
Blend it and it results to 600ml.
In total it's about 1200 calories, not to mention you're getting the other benefits from the whole milk (like extra protein).
On my first week of using the weight gainer I went all out - 58kg to 63.3kg. I was stunned at the amount I gained.
I'm now at 65kg and my current goal is 70kg.
I drink 1 serving per night before bed.

Dude, you are kidding right? You gained 5kg in a week?

Scales don't lie. Then again there was probably a lot of water retention. Gains have been much much slower since then!

Thanks for your reply. For most of us who stay on the natural side of this sport, it is highly unlikely to gain 5kg of quality weight in a week. Actually it will be quite impressive if you can gain 5 kg in a month without any increase in your waist. Otherwise you gain a lot of fat. I think 2-3 kg a month will be a solid and sustainable progress.

Takes near a year to gain 5KG of MUSCLE without roids for anyone wondering.

Agree David!! Well can be done in shorter time but on eweek is a joke! It is not water retention whatsoever, it's utter gibberish! I've been taking whey and O.N products for years, what you claim is simply untrue

Somehow I find it doubtful that you managed to gain 5.3kg in just a week. This seems like an unhealthy amount to have gained in just a week and if this is true I am almost sure that the majority of the weight gained has been fat and not muscle.

I'd modify my review but I made it long ago now so, just gonna reply to your post and in general.
I still take Serious Mass to this day. Back then I was ecstatic about receiving the item in the mail, and some of the positivity I gave the product was nothing more than a placebo effect.
I take the gainer differently after having a long experience with it. Now I add 700ml of Whole Milk with 2 scoops of Serious Mass, throw in a banana and it doesn't taste so artificial anymore. Blend all that and it results to 1000ml. I take half of it in the morning then the other half at night before bed.
When I weighed myself back then it wasn't accurate, I knew I still had food digesting so the "65kg after a week" was a load of crap, it was more like 62kg after a couple of months of taking it - which is still good to be honest.
Many many Calories per serving
Tastes good if you throw in a banana
One of the cheaper weight gainers
Huge serving, might be unbearable to drink all of it
Tastes bad unless you throw in a banana (personally)
