Golden Rules for life,
This review is from: The Golden Rules of Acting (Paperback)
Andy Nyman grants us a rare insight in the world of acting, covering all elements of the field, from drama school, surviving the life of a jobbing actor, handling the dreaded auditions, dealing with directors, theatres, reviews and agents.
The book includes a series of great quotes from famous actors on their experience in the field, with some excellent illustrations too. The quotes help you remember that these famous people also navigated this noble profession too, and almost certainly have waited by a phone to hear if they got the part, and certainly had to deal with the rejection too when they weren't succesful because the director thought they 'weren't right for the role', but have then still gone to found success later on in life.
The book serves to inspire and re-inspire. It offers up great advice which is valid for everyone (actors and non-actors alike) as it's appropriate for any task or job undertaken in an informed, pragmatic and often amusing manner.
As a non-actor myself, I found it truly fascinating opening a window on a world of which I know nothing about and the trials and tribulations actors go through day in day out.
Clearly from this book, anyone call tell that Andy Nyman loves his craft, and the world of the stage, and seeks to inspire others who wish to follow his path.
