The movies were dumb but the songs weren't,
This review is from: Elvis At The Movies (Audio CD)
I've never gone along with the hand held view by rock critics that the movie songs were bad and are the only thing that held up what were mainly poorly scripted films.
Harem Holiday was possibly the worst but that didn't apply to the songs and it was a hit album in both America and Britain.
Every movie had something wrong with it-the first one saw him as no more than a guest as well as being killed off at the end and what followed either suffered from being in black & white or having bits chopped out-with King Creole the biggest hit Hard Headed Woman was heard from outside a club in its closing bars!
Pity this collection never included Old McDonald-the famous Nursery Rhyme was somehow credited to Randy Starr probably because it came on like an early advert for Fast Food
Many of the songs were custom written by Giant Baum & Kaye including many of the title ones and made little money because of the Colonel's legendary tightness
Favorite ones apart from Old McDonald are Do The Clam and Follow That Dream
Fortunately Ito Eats (from Blue Hawaii) is not included
