You must clarify : this is the Kovarovic's 1916 arrangement. The authentic edition is played by Mackerras (and Haitink, but Mackerras is the best choice). But you are right : Vogel the conductor and the singer are brilliant. Jaroslav Vogel (1894-1970) was a genius, the Czech Reiner; but infortunately his records are few because he do'nt often work in Praga, the capital. I comment The Bartered Bride [2cd] in Amazon-France.
Somebody can think that the Kovarovic's edition is smoother than the original Janacek's 1908 edition : people who dislike a too modern music can prefer this one.
Can you specify if we have the libretto ? The problem is that : Jenufa is under copyright, you cannot find the libretto in Opera-guide.
