This review is from: Martha Gellhorn: A Life (Paperback)
After finishing this biography of Martha Gellhorn I wrote the following letter to author (sending via email to her publisher):
"Dear Ms. Moorehead - having just completed your very well researched and written book about the life of Martha Gellhorn I simply felt compelled to write and offer you my deepest sympathy for having to live with such a creature for the time you put in on it. I myself was honestly looking forward to her death by the time half finished with the book to rid me of this self-centered insufferable bore?! Perhaps the reason she sought so much solitude was out of fear others might come to know the real her and be as repulsed as no doubt many of us are after this biography?
Though it cannot be denied that she led a fascinating and somewhat useful life in many respects I found it all wasted on someone with her personality. Certainly there must be a psychological term(s) for such a person. Though I of course admire some of her attributes don't most of us have at least one or two good ones. Whatever noble in her was more than canceled out by the rest of her.
None-the-less, thank you for an interesting and entertaining read that was worth the time...in spite of the subject."
