love thy neighbour dvd complete ???? box set,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Love Thy Neighbour - The Complete Collection [DVD] (DVD)
Having promptly received the box set today I was so disappointed that two episodes are missing. Namely "April Showers" and "The coach trip to Bournemouth". So how can this be classed as a COMPLETE COLLECTION.
The pilot episode IS included but NO MOVIE. I feel so ripped off by the dvd release company when they persist to release box sets as complete when they aren't. Network are rumoured to be releasing the ENTIRE collection with ALL episodes AND the movie in a box set. Wish I had waited. Am adding to my review as I am fuming now as the price is so low. Like I said I wish I had waited. Roll on re release(he says hopefully) so I can get rid of this poorly thought out waste of money release.

Mr Frank Lee Bland says:
"april Showers" or "April Fools" as i though it was called isnt included as it`s content has been deemed too offensive even for dvd release

Episode 14, "All Star Comedy Carnival", has never been released for reasons unknown. Episode 30, "April Fools", was deemed too offensive for inclusion and has also never been released. Episode 54, "The Couch Outing To Bournemouth", has never been released due to contractual issues with the music used. The Unbroadcast Pilot Episode has never been released by Fremantle.

Your theories are just that . The "unreleased" Coach Trip episode IS included on the set so that disproves one theory . Where does this nonsense about the April Fool episode being offensive come from? For the original comment- the movie won't be included because it is not owned by Thames who made the series but the movie has been released on dvd before. I don't have the UK discs of series 1 and 2 but the Amazon listing for the series 1 dvd says it includes the pilot . I have it on the Australian disc of series 1 so I don't see any reason for it not to be included here. Most of the All Star Comedy Carnival programmes are wiped and no longer exist . The 1973 one , which was the last one I think does exist but for the rest the odd sketch from within the show exists ( as with The Dustbinmen from 1969) but the tape of the whole programme is gone. Rights issues could be an issue as the 1973 Carnival of which I have a copy includes Man About the House and the normally thorough Network didn't include that on any of their dvd's.
Update: The April Fool episode does not exist. It is actually the Bananas episode which was postponed and finally shown on April 1st 1974.
Where do these nonsense theories about an episode being too offensive come from. There is nothing that would have been shown in Love Thy Neighbour that would make it unreleasable on dvd
