This review is from: History of the Conflict Between Religion and Science (Kindle Edition)
Fascinating subject matter, an abundance of erudite historical data presented to support his case that religions actively work towards the suppression of science and progress. I knew some of this from reading the history of the Popes but the data on early Islam was new to me.
Oh boy, does it need editing? In the end I got used to reading 'bum' for 'but'. But (or bum) other typos intrude to disrupt the flow of your reading.
The time line wavers and jumps and also interupts the flow. The period covered is from ancient Greece to almost modern times. The reader thinks he has reached the middle ages only to find the arguement has jumped back to Byzantium.
In the end you realize that the conflict is still alive and inhibiting progress. You can find your own instances from your own times.
Overall, it was worth the effort for the information contained. If this had been turned in as a thesis, the examiners would surely have returned it for extensive revision.
