Running with Rosie,
This review is from: Just a Little Run Around the World: 5 Years, 3 Packs of Wolves and 53 Pairs of Shoes: 5 Years, 29 Marriage Proposals and 53 Pairs of Shoes (Paperback)
As a running enthusiast, I was instantly drawn to the title of this book. On closer inspection, Rosie's story struck a chord with me as I recently lost a dear family member in the conflict in Afghanistan and my family also, at a time of extreme loss, felt compelled to honour our loved one and decided to do something great in the name of charity and in their memory. We set ourselves the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which whilst undoubtedly was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, absolutely pales in comparison to Rosie's Run Around the World.
Rosie's story is that of a true British hero, made even better by her "can do" attitude and slightly eccentric personality which clearly people warm to instantly. Rosie has now become a stalwort of my "ideal dinner party" invitee list. I read once that you never regret the runs that you do, only the runs that you don't do. This is one of those books that you will not regret tucking in to. Rosie is with me on every run I do now, inspiring me to carry on when my legs start to hurt, reminding me in moments of loss and solitude to think of the good that exists in this world and to treasure every moment that it offers up.
Thank you Rosie for being a fantastic inspiration, and most of all, a great giggle.
