More Classic Metal,
By A Customer
This review is from: Powerslave (Audio CD)
This is an album of two halves, the excellent and the ok. Although definitely a classic Maiden album, it doesn't have the all through quality of "Number of the Beats", "Piece of Mind" or "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" but it is still a good album. "Losfer Words", "Flash of the Blade", "The Duellists" and "Back in the Village" are all slightly dodgy tracks but are by no means bad. "Aces High" is a magnificent call to arms and an excellent choice for an opening track, it's chorus is the perfect place for Bruce to show his vocal talents to the max. "2 Minutes to Midnight" is an undisputed classic written about the threat of nuclear war. "Powerslave" has probably the greatest riff, EVER. It is a fantastic song with dual lyrical meanings. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is a perfect example of a Steve Harris epic. Probably the best one after "Hallowed be thy Name". This album is a good album marred by some dodgy tracks but is nevertheless just as influential as all the other Maiden albums.
