This review is from: Wild on the Run (Audio CD)
A British Band that should have had the time and exposure to give Bon Jovi a run for their money? Oh yes, you had better believe it, Tobruk were very good in their day.
This is a great slice of would be American arena rock, with great catchy songs, good production, and a large degree of talent. We have loads of big guitars, mixed with thunderous drums, some fantastic (but not over the top) keyboard work - all mixed into some well thought out and structured songs with some great hooks/melodies. Some people may find the vocal style not to their taste, but you can always check them out before you buy anyway.
There is not really a bad track on the album, with each and everyone being a potential hit single. The re-issued version has a fair amount of bonus tracks on it, including the original Neat Records version of their first single, which is "interesting". They had obviously come a long way since then!!
So why weren't they more successful? I guess we will never know but, the sad passing of vocalist Snake (R.I.P) put paid to any comeback.
I would advise anyone who likes Y&T, Bon Jovi, Journey, Europe and the like to get this CD.
