A fantastic final book in the Cazalet chronicles series,
This review is from: Casting Off: Cazalet Chronicles Book 4 (Paperback)
"Casting Off" is the final book in the quartet of books by Elizabeth Jane Howard that charter the life of the Cazalet family.
The war is finally over with victory in Japan now a reality. However, this dawning of a new era brings new challenges for the immediate and extended members of the Cazalet family. The 3 brothers must make decisions which will affect their wives and children forever. The children of the Cazalet family face their own challenges and the world emerges from war a different place to that which they grew up in.
This was a very enjoyable book and I found that Elizabeth Jane Howard tied up all the ends very neatly. I was very sad to finish the book as I felt that over the 4 books that make up the Cazalet Saga that I had become very well acquainted with the family and finishing the book was like losing several friends all in one go. The final book did not disappoint (some final books do) and the same high standard of writing, plot and characterisation was maintained until the last word.
