1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - False Advertising!, 30 Oct. 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
This is a review of this package as a whole, not of Origins or Awakenings, plenty of reviews for which can be found elsewhere and have no place here. Whilst Origins IS simply brilliant, this package is not what it purports to be, and thus I can only give this Ultimate Edition one star.

I imagine that there will mostly be two sorts of people buying this package, those with no internet access and those who are budget conscious. For the former group, the lack of internet access meant that all the extra material, bar Awakenings, was not available to them, and thus this package was therefore the ideal cure for that problem. NOT SO! Though it is nowhere advertised on the box on in the instructions, you need to have internet access to play everything on these disks, apart from Origins and Awakenings! So what was the point? To reiterate, if you have no interent access you can only play Origins and Awakenings from this package, and there's nothing particularly Ultimate about that.

On the back of the box, above the system requirements, it says INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED FOR ACTIVATION so...
You are wrong.

Er, no it doesn't. And I've had several people look.

Not just for activation though it's needed EVERY TIME YOU PLAY with the premium content, and I don't like to be online all the time. Very annoying!

I must be doing something wrong, then - I'm not online when I play the DLC and it works fine.

So... you get a voucher that allows you to get the premium DLC (Downloadable Content) for free...
I look at that, see the word DOWNLOADABLE and apply a modicum of common sense, just before switching my internet connection on ;-)

From the back of my product case, in BOLD letters:

"Registration required to access online features. Users are responsible for broadband access fees"

I think that means you need internet ;-)
