Give This A Chance,
This review is from: Abrahadabra (Audio CD)
I tend to drift in and out of some of the more extreme bands but I always enjoy DB when I return to their albums.
I was enthused to hear about the recording of this album being carried out with a full orchestra and choir although like many I was saddened by the departures of ICS Vortex & Mustis.
I have played this twice since release and I am generally encouraged by the result, the orchestration mellows the overall sound a degree, the choirs add an extra dimension but I do feel the production could have been a tad cleaner.
In Sorte Diaboli grabbed me as soon as I heard where as this one feels like a grower.
Overall, I like this album and I sure I will return to it often.
For DB fans I would say go with it but new fans I would say Death Cult Armageddon is a better introduction to the majesty and power of Dimmu Borgir.
