3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job but could be much better, 29 Jan. 2008
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gioteck EX-01 Bluetooth Headset (PS3) (Video Game)
Setting up is a breeze and the earpiece is comfortable to wear but there is a lot of crackle and static. This interference happened whether I was close to the PS3 console or not. Also annoying is the fact that you have to wait for the other person to finish talking before you start.
At the end of the day, the thing works, battery life is very good and it is user friendly but the interference takes the shine off.

This could be because there is other wireless interference in your room...

I am encountering the exact same thing and outside of the PS3 controller itself- I own no other Blue-tooth item. I am told the mic is perfectly clear, but everything coming through the earphone is unintelligible noise.

A perfect description of my situation, although for some bizarre reason I can hear people in the states like their sat next to me but people in the UK.... no hope!?

I daren't put the controller to bluetooth unless it makes it worse or interferes with the reponse so I cant sit more than 3feet away from the TV at the moment either.

It's comfy though lol

My old PS2 USB headset worked much much better and i'm either gonna buy another one of those or keep this as a spare and buy an official Sony PS3 Bluetooth headset, which has the option of popping it in the docking bay with the sound coming from the tv but still with the capability to be used as a mic.

You can make the sound come from the tv with any mic... it's in the same settings where you change your mic volume. There is an option to choose the output and the input. Just put the output to default and it will come out of the tv.

Other bluetooth devises are not likely to be the cause of interference as they are designed to work along side each other. It is other wireless devises such as DECT telephones, WIFI, older style wireless keyboards and mic, Microwave ovens are the worst. The comment below about the people in the US being clearer than those in the UK is because of the inetrnet connection. In the states they have much hiigher upload speeds so the audio stream are less compressed. Connect your PS3 concolse to the router with a cable and not via WiFi will help in some cases, especially if you have a weak signal.
