4.0 out of 5 stars No need to panic, 14 July 2007
This review is from: Song 4 Mutya (Audio CD)
This tune by classy late-Nineties dance outfit Groove Armada featuring Mutya Buena (ex-Sugababes) is a perfect collaboration. This is quite simply brilliant, and is a perfect marriage of R&B meets early Eighties Synth Pop that has a similar style of synths/keyboards as 'Dare' period Human League (think 'Things That Dreams Are Made Of' and 'Open Your Heart'). Also, there is a bit of an Eighties 'Prince' style of production on this, and if you listen very carefully near the beginning, you will even hear Mutya mentioning Prince.

I think this song is about Mutya's panic about leaving the band and feeling "dissed" by the remaining Sugababes choosing a similar looking/styled replacement. Judging by this she's got no reason to panic, and in my opinion this is up there with 'Freak Like Me' (a time when she was in the group, which was another perfect blend of R&B and Synth Pop that sampled the synth riff of Gary Numan's 'Are Friend's Electric?'). I also couldn't help noticing that the intro to this sounds remarkably similar to 'Cars' (again by Numan). Is this another cheeky sly reference to her former band?
