Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Humax WLAN WiFI 11n 150Mbps USB Dongle (Accessory)
I bought the Dongle on the advice from Richer sounds to update the firmware/software to resolve a few niggling problems. I set up the Wifi connection but the password length is limited to 10 characters! Since my Wifi key is the one supplied with my router and around 25 characters I can't connect to my network.

I am not willing to change my password to 10 characters for security reasons and I don't want to have to reset all my other passwords for equipment and phones etc. connected to my network.

After a full evening of reading forums and FAQ's it seems that the only fix to get the dongle working is to download an update to a USB key and update the Humax box manually. If this is what is required then there was no need for me to buy the Wi-Lan stick in the first place.

If you password or internet key is longer than 10 characters then it certainly isn't a plug and play item. Rubbish!!!

It doesn't matter how long your password is as far as security of your router goes. There is a very simple to use, easy to find piece of software that can be used to hack your network, no matter how long or complex your password is. I wouldn't waste your time with the overly-long passwords. Just make sure your computer has good firewall software and that you switch your router off when you are not using it.
