Not for me!,

I agree with other reviews that this book was a bit confusing at times with the time shifting backwards and forwards. I couldn't get into this book at all..Couldn't relate to the charaters. Which is a shame because its the second book I read by Linda Gillard, the first one The House of Silence, I just loved. So it doesn't mean I'm giving up on her as an author. I have started reading her newest novel The Glass Guardian, and I'm loving it. I have also downloaded Star Gazing. So maybe it's just me.. Some books don't suit everyone, and what a boring world it would be if all authors wrote the same. Looking forward to future books from LG.

Thanks for your thoughtful & fair review. I'm the author. A LIFETIME BURNING was my 2nd novel and it's very much a one-off. It's been the least popular of my novels (though it's many people's favourite, including mine.)
My books are all rather different, but if you enjoyed HOUSE OF SILENCE & THE GLASS GUARDIAN you could safely try STAR GAZING or UNTYING THE KNOT. Perhaps avoid EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY as it has a similar sort of non-linear structure to A LIFETIME BURNING (but it also has my best hero!)

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my review. I am certainly enjoying THE GLASS GUARDIAN (can't put it down). Also I am really looking forward to reading STAR GAZING, and I have UNTYING THE KNOT on my Amazon wish list. You are a very tallented writer and have enjoyed your books so far, and look forward to future ones.

A Lifetime Burning certainly is different to Linda's other books - I'm one of those people who class it as my favourite. Books which go back and forth in time are challenging, and not everyone follows, but for me, this one just worked.
