smashing fun, would give it five but the storys not great,
This review is from: Singularity (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Blistering FPS action, criminally overlooked and underpromoted before release and then too late the praise when Activision guiltily sneaked it past reviewers straight to the shelves. This is the best shooter in ages, and a candidate in my book for a minor classic - the gunplay and setpieces are some of the best I've ever played, easily the equal of COD / Halflife 2 / Halo etc.
Your special powers are brilliant and the game really makes good use of them as far as the combat goes (there are puzzles but to be honest these aren't the most taxing), for 16 or so hours its a relentless beautifully designed assault on your senses. The different enemy types keep you on your feet, the opening setpiece is quite spooky and intense - and theres more where that came from, the entire game doesn't have any filler or duff bits at all. Just solid, frantic, brutal and bloody action.
The developers have really moved things up here (their previous game was Wolfenstein and Singularity is massively improved from that)- if this game gets the attention it deserves then I could see them delivering a stonecold classic in the future BUT only if they get the guys who did 'Bioshock 1' to do the story - its not bad here but its not great either. Still, the gameplay is king, its so good that I almost gave this a five simply for the sheer fun the game brings. Highly recommended for fans of FPS.
