Dante's Inferno is absolutely awesome.,
This review is from: Dante's Inferno (PS3) (Video Game)
Make no mistake, Dante's Inferno is a fantastic game. Anyone who tells you "it's a God of War rip-off" or words to that effect haven't understood the game,or are repeating what their friends told them. Yes, it is similar to God of War in many ways (probably because the dev team had a lot of people on it who worked on the God of War franchise) but it has many redeeming qualities.
Firstly, Hell looks and sounds exactly like, nay better than you could imagine. Hell looks, well... hellish. And the residents of the everlasting fire are worthy opponents. They looks and fight like the residents of Hell should. The screams and cries and the growls of beasts sets the atmosphere perfectly. I could not ask for a better representation of hell.
The weapons system in the game is also praise worthy. I loved all the weapons, and the upgrade system for weapons is better than in God of War. You get to choose whether you condemn or absolve the sins of the people of hell. That unlocks either the "Red" villain powers if you choose to condemn souls or the "Blue" hero-like powers if you choose to absolve souls in an inFamous-ish sort of manner.
The combat system is very similar God of War's. Does that make it boring? Not at all. The combat system is superb, combined with Dante's upgrading and with magic abilities makes for a fantastic experience. Anyone who is a GOW fanboy will love the combat in this.
Now for the stuff that I don't like talking about- the bad points. You don't have control of the camera which is fine because some games also don't allow freedom of camera like *sighs* God of War (don't worry, I'm growing a bit tired of mentioning it as you are probably tired of reading it, but there's not really any other game to compare it to). In Dante's inferno, the camera does let you down a few times, but most of the time it is good.
If you like long, windy stories and don't settle for anything less, this isn't the game for you. Dante's Inferno has a short story, but it's short and sweet.
Well this concludes my review. If you like hack and slash games, you'll love this. If you want something you'll remember for all the right reasons, then you'll love this.
Oh, and don't read any online reviews from established reviewers. You can't take them seriously. Especially IGN. They are just gay.
