Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Doro Phone Easy 612 GSM Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics)
Bought back end of last year on recommendation of a friend who said it was a best buy from 'Which' magazine.
Within a few days it started to shut down for no reason even though the battery was charged. I returned it to Amazon who replaced it immediately with a new one.
It arrived 07/11/13 and was playing up within a few weeks. Exactly the same problem - come to use it or check numbers etc. and it's switched off! May stay on for a couple of days or be off within a couple of minutes of last use. I need my 'phone to be on 24/7 so this unit - for me - is unfit for purpose!
Research on the 'net suggests this is a known problem.
Am now left with the hassle of trying to get DORO to sort it and having had one abortive attempt to mail them (incomplete address on a web site) I feel this is going to be a long slog...
When it stays on the 'phone does what I require although the battery capacity seem very small.
Based on my experience this 'phone is a big thumbs down and to be avoided like the plague.

This complaint sounds like my friend had - but it was of his making. Watching carefully whilst he used it I realised he was pressing the red "OFF" button on receiving a call and also when attempting to make one. After having it explained carefully to him he now uses it regularly without any problem.

Purchased the DORO 612 and within a few days the battery died, so recharged it and within one hour had a Low Battery warning. I phoned Doro who were very helpful and sent me a return postage packet at no charge. Phone was returned to me within 5 days with new battery and a software upgrade. Phone no good, could not get a signal ( EE antenna approx 50m from me, can see it from kitchen window). Phoned Doro and again sent me the return pack. Recieved new phone 5 days later with letter stating they could not repair my old phone so sent me a new phone.
Perfect, does what it says on the box. Excellent service from Doro. Highly recommended. My wife has also bought the 612 and very happy.
