Quirky but informative,
This review is from: ARM System-on-Chip Architecture (Paperback)
I received my copy of this book while I was working at ARM as a student.
Although some of the products described have ceased production, the book provides useful insights into the evolution of the ARM architecture, and how it's come to be used in the industry today. Crucially it describes the ARM7 core and it's derivatives, including the THUMB instruction set. While also mentioning the StrongARM and ARM9 families.
ARM7 is ARM's workhorse product and is still incorporated into new parts from many silicon vendors.
This book is an invaluable guide to understanding and getting the most from the ARM Architecure, and while it won't replace a datasheet, it's ease of readability and accessible style make it perhaps the first book that anyone considering ARM should read.
