A great ride - roll on book three,
This review is from: TimeRiders: Day of the Predator (Book 2) (Paperback)
Alex Scarrow's first TimeRiders book was a great example of what if as well being a fine example of a story which, while obviously YA, could be enjoyed by adults. As such, I had high expectations for the second book in the series. With Day of the Predator, those expectations have been met and exceeded.
Events kick off soon after the end of the first book and it's not long before Liam, Sal and Maddy are up the creek and several million years apart. Liam is stuck in the age of the dinosaurs with only a few students and a slightly different version of Bob for company while Sal and Maddy are working desperately to keep their operations a secret, rescue Liam and put history back the way it should be. No easy task for adults let alone three kids, and no easy task for the author to make us firstly believe these kids might just pull it off and secondly, to make us care about them. However, Mr Scarrow manages to do both very well.
The TimeRiders books are definitely shaping up to be one of those series enjoyed by adults and kids and despite being a grumpy git in my thirties, I've got no problem with saying this book was just a damn fun read.
Get stuck in to them now before you have to fight your kids for the next one.
