The Hunger does just that...leaves you hungry. For me most of the episodes left me saying' is that it?', maybe due to constraints the series had caused it to hold back on both the sex and the horror, I think if it was updated and made in this day and age, what with the likes of Game of Thrones, Banshee and American Horror Story then 'The Hunger' may have been a massive hit had it been allowed to go the whole hog with its twisted storytelling, horror and titillation, but due to TV series constraints of the day and age the series is sadly flawed, handcuffed and not of the fluffy variety. There is the gem amongst the rubble in the series, some of the stories stand out better than others such as Necros...a very twisted little tale with more SFX then most of the episodes and episode 5 'The Bridal Suite' pushes the boundaries of the television censorship back then.....I quite fancied the cursed mattress featured in the episode where unfaithful lovers becomes trapped..forever bound in the mattress to fulfill the desires of the woman who lays upon it! . I went into the Hunger for the horror rather than the sex and was kinda disappointed by most of the storylines, I also think those that are watching this for the desire may feel let down as the sex is very vanilla, not enough variety for those who are focusing on the series for that element
A side point to note, the title screen is nauseating , its how I imagine being on an acid trip would feel like, certainly it is migraine inducing and not recommended for sufferers of epilepsy.
All in all, The Hunger had great potential, let down by the constraints of the time.
